sv:view
A view is always a sub node of a layout repository (sv:layoutRepository). It can have zero or more portlets (sv:portlet) and layouts (sv:layout) as child nodes.
Views are much like layouts used to structure the data on a web page or article. The difference to a layout is that a view is a custom view of a layout only shown given certain criteria.
